Vehicle tyre and method of manufacturing the same

A tire carcass (1) comprises a cord layers layer whose circumferential ends (1a,1b) overlap at their joint. The outer axial ends of (1) are wrapped around bead wires with the free ends to the outside. One of the circumferential ends is shortened by cutting off the corners (3) and this end lies to the outside when wrapped around the bead wire. Part of the overlap makes contact with the bead wires. An independent claim is also included for a process for manufacturing the tire comprising: (i) building up carcass (1) on a drum and shortening by cutting off corners at one end (1a), the cuts being made outside the bead wire location point; (ii) overlapping the cut end by the other(1b), uncut, end; (iii) locating the bead wires; and (iv) wrapping the axial ends of the carcass around the bead wires.
