PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type liquid crystal display device which can display a smooth moving picture. SOLUTION: The projection type liquid crystal display device is equipped with a light source, an optical modulating device which modulates the light from the light source, and a projection lens which projects the light modulated by the optical modulating device; and a mechanical or electric shutter is arranged in the optical path and opened and closed in synchronism with one field of the display picture to cut off non-stationary parts of the display light. As this shutter, a roll screen type, a rotary disk type, or a liquid crystal shutter is usable. |
