PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a surge vibration by rapid depression of an accelerator during power-off running, in a controller for a starting clutch controlling transmission torque capacity to a value necessary for transmission of torque by just engine absorption torque during the power-off running. SOLUTION: This controller starts gradual-increase control (an region D) of clutch torque executed after depressing the accelerator, with delay from a time point at which the accelerator is depressed.
