PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Cr-containing steel sheet for building materials having weather resistance in spite of being relatively inexpensive by tin-zinc based hot dip plating. SOLUTION: In this Cr-containing steel sheet for building materials having excellent weather resistance, the surface of a steel sheet to be plated containing, by mass, 7 to 20% Cr is provided with an alloy layer with a thickness of 0.05 to 1.5μm containing Fe, Cr and Sn by >=50% in total. The surface thereof is provided with an Sn based plated layer with a thickness of 2.0 to 15.0μm. The Sn based plated layer has a composition containing <=20% Zn, or further containing one or more kinds selected from <=5% Cr, <=5% Mn, <=5% Ti, <=5% Al, <=5% Cd and <=5% Mg by <=20% in total with Zn, and the balance Sn with inevitable impurities.
