PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of the so-called 'creep-in' phenomenon, in which a ceramic heater 6 creeps in the inside of a metal external sleeve 8 due to repetition of heating and cooling of the glow plug. SOLUTION: The tip end of the heating body of the ceramic heater 6 is protruded from one end of the metal sleeve 8, and a rear end 6d of he heater is positioned in the inside of the metal external sleeve 8, and in this state the ceramic heater 7 and the metal sleeve 8 are silver-brazed. The rear part of the outer sleeve 8 is inserted and fixed in a housing 2. When the sleeve protrusion length from the end 4f of the fixed part of the sleeve to the housing 2 is taken to be L, and the inserting length of the heater 6 into the sleeve 8 is taken to be A, L-A<-5 mm or 0<L-A is established. As for the insertion length A, A>5 mm is established.
