METHOD FOR PRODUCING MALONONITRILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide other effective method for synthesizing molononitrile from reaction of cyanoacetamide with POCl3 in batch method. SOLUTION: In this method for producing malononitrile, characterized by using a porous particulate solid substance as an absorbent, cyanoacetamide is reacted with POCl3 as a dehydrating agent at 80-120 deg.C for 6-8 hr in a solvent in the presence of an organic N-donor base as catalyst and a porous particulate solid substance as absorbent and the resultant product is then distilled from the crude product under vacuum into a receiver containing the same stabilizer in the presence of a stabilizer to obtain the desired product having high purity and long shelf-life.
