PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium excellent in ink absorbency, film forming properties and transparency and a coating liquid therefor. SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording medium, an ink absorbing layer includes an inorganic porous substance having fine pores with pore diameters of 1 to 200 nm in the pore diameter distribution obtained by a nitrogen adsorption method and a latex polymer, which is produced by copolymerizing a silicon- containing monomer and another polymerizable monomer. In addition, the coating liquid for the ink jet recording medium is disclosed. |
