PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium excellent in ink absorbency, film forming properties and transparency and a coating liquid therefor. SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording medium, an ink absorbing layer includes an inorganic porous substance having fine pores with pore diameters of 1 to 200 nm in the pore diameter distribution obtained by a nitrogen adsorption method and a latex polymer having a glass transition point of 100 deg.C or lower and, at the same time, an average bulk particle diameter larger than the pore diameter of the inorganic porous substance. In addition, the coating liquid for the ink jet recording medium is disclosed. |
