PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which a write/read command corresponding to the different configuration data of a plurality of machine types can be transmitted without changing setting of a memory communication control part, and an image forming method. SOLUTION: As machine type discrimination information, communication data containing a machine type code are transmitted from a printer control part 204 to a memory communication control part 220. Besides, in order to determine configuration data, a memory communication control part 220a has a configuration data table beforehand composed of machine type codes and the records of configuration data corresponding to these machine type codes and only when a received machine type code is matched with a machine type code described in the configuration data table, correspondent configuration data are determined. |
