PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of improving compression efficiency. SOLUTION: This vehicular air conditioner has a compressor 1, a gas cooler (a radiator) 2, and an evaporator 4 connected in series by piping, and is provided with a pressure control valve 3 for adjusting pressure of a refrigerant flowing in the evaporator 4. The vehicular air conditioner is characterized by having a temperature sensor (a temperature detecting means) 11 for detecting an outlet side refrigerant temperature of the gas cooler, and a control device 20 for controlling the pressure control valve 3 to calculate a pressure preset value of the refrigerant for maximizing a compression result of the compressor 1 on the basis of output of the temperature sensor 11, and so that refrigerant pressure becomes the pressure preset value.
