PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brace with both functions of a steel material damper and a viscous damper. SOLUTION: This brace damper comprises a brace body 1 composed of a strip-shaped steel plate having both ends fixed to a building and yielding when receiving a prescribed axial force, a restraint member 2 formed by having a pair of channel steel products 7, attached around the circumference of the brace body 1, and preventing its buckling while allowing its axial deformation, and a viscoelastic medium 3 sandwiched between the brace body 1 and the restraint member 2 in a stuck state. The brace body 1 is formed of an extremely low yield point steel. The strip-shaped steel plate is interposed between the brace body 1 and the respective channel steel products 7 and the viscoelastic medium 3 is sandwiched between the steel plate, the brace body 1, and the channel steel products 7.
