PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of water required for the cooking of rice and the total amount of steam released into the air from the body of a rice cooker by recovering and returning steam released from the body into the pan. SOLUTION: The rice cooker comprises the body, a pot detachably housed into the body, a heating means which is provided in the body to heat the pot and a lid having a steam port which covers an opening part in the top surface of the body to release steam. The steam released once outside the cooker is recovered while the steam recovered is returned into the pot for cooking rice.
