PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer in which print quality can be sustained even upon occurrence of a bubble in an ink channel and the quantity of ink being consumed for discharging a generated bubble can be reduced. SOLUTION: A first chamber 11a on the ink tank 4 side and a second chamber 11b on the print head 15 side are defined in each air trap 30-33 and a first filter 13a for passing ink at the time of printing is provided. At the time of printing, a bubble generated in an ink channel ascends through the first chamber 11a by buoyancy and is trapped at an upper part of an air trap. Even if the quantity of bubbles is increased, ink passes through the first filter 13a and ink supply to the print head 15 is ensured. At the time of recovery operation, fluid resistance at the part 13e above the first filter 13a is low and ink flows over the first filter 13a to discharge the trapped bubbles. |
