PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially producing a building material having the so-called trowel scratch pattern. SOLUTION: The building material is produced by transferring a coated plate 2 in an uncured state onto a conveyor 1 and traveling the uncured coating film on the surface of the plate 2 at a speed higher than the transfer speed of the plate 2 in the direction identical with the transfer direction of the plate 2 in the site where the plate 2 is in contact with the endless belt 31 of a roller 3 provided with irregularities on its press surface to form a trowel scrape pattern on the coating film of the plate 2.
