PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming composite material of metal and inorganic particles, by which the inorganic particles are uniformly distributed in a base metal with high filling ratio, and even a formed product having compli cated shape can be easily obtained at a low cost. SOLUTION: In this method for forming the composite material of metal and inorganic particles with metal as a base material into a predetermined shape, (a) a lump 1 of the composite material of metal and inorganic particles is arranged in a lower die 5 of the forming die, and an upper die 6 is placed above the lump 1, (b) the lump 1 is softened by heating to form fluid indicating thixotropic behavior, (c) the upper die 6 is pressed to fill a cavity of the forming die with the fluid, and (d) a solidified product is cooled, then is taken out of the forming die.
