<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of conventional preliminary ejection, i.e., lowering of throughput or contamination with ink, by performing preliminary ejection utilizing ejection quantity drop where a relatively short nonejection time of several seconds may occur at the ejection opening of a recording head. SOLUTION: Ejection drop which can be eliminated by single ejection may occur during the time before starting recording operation after removing the cap of a recording head or during nonrecording time between pages. These times are managed as a preliminary ejection interval and when that time is reached (step S8), ejection is performed once preliminarily onto a recording medium (step S9). Since the quantity of ink being ejected by preliminary ejection is small, its dot formed on the recording medium is inconspicuous and an operation for facing the recording head against a preliminary ejection receiver can be eliminated.</p> |
