METHOD FOR EXTRACTING FERULIC ACID FROM DROPWORT

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for extracting and purifying a ferulic acid from a dropwort with aqueous solvent and organic solvent, wherein the ferulic acid is useful for medical treatment of hepatitis B. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of: (i) firstly extracting a dropwort with aqueous solvent, (ii) secondly extracting the dropwort with organic solvent, and (iii) collecting a fraction corresponding to ferulic acid from the extract obtained in the step(ii) by reverse-phase high pressure liquid chromatography. The organic solvent is methanol or acetonitrile. Dropwort is extracted in a water bath at 60-90 deg.C for 12-48 hours, in the step(i). C18 column, and acetonitrile : water(16:84)(v/v) containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid which is an elution solvent are used in the reverse-phase high pressure liquid chromatography.
