A clad strip is manufactured by casting a plate made of core alloy, homogenizing the plate at 550-630 deg C for /-1 hour, cladding on one or two sides of the plate of a brazing aluminum alloy, hot rolling and then cold rolling the plate, recrystallization annealing the strip at 300-400 deg C, and strain hardening the annealed strip to obtain a permanent deformation of 2-10%. Manufacture of clad strip involves casting a plate made of core alloy, homogenizing the plate at 550-630 deg C for /-1 hour, cladding on one or two sides of the plate of a brazing aluminum alloy, hot rolling followed by cold rolling the plate to a thickness close to the final thickness, recrystallization annealing the strip at 300-400 deg C, and strain hardening the annealed strip to obtain a permanent deformation of 2-10% and the final thickness. The core alloy comprises (wt.%) silicon (less than 0.8), iron (less than 0.8), copper (0.2-0.9), manganese (0.7-1.5), magnesium (less than 0.4), zinc (less than 0.2), titanium (less than 0.1), other element (less than 0.05 and less than 0.15 in total), and the remainder aluminum. An Independent claim is included for a clad strip manufactured by the inventive process. The clad strip shows a perforation-free service life in a Salt Water Acetic Acid Test according to ASTM G85 standard of over 40 days, after shaping and brazing. |
