PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a node supervisory method that quickly detects a node failure and reduces number of times of poling so as to relieve a system load and a network load. SOLUTION: The node supervisory method includes a step where a poling expiration time (t), a maximum time T, a coefficient (k) and number of retrial times (n) are read, a step where a management server polls nodes connected to the network to detect a node giving no reply even after a lapse of the time (t), and a step where the management server repeats polling the node giving no reply after a lapse of a newly calculated time (t) by applying an arithmetic operation of the coefficient (k) to the preceding time (t) within a range not in excess of the maximum time T to calculate the newly calculated time (t) when detecting the node giving no reply and discriminates it as the occurrence of a fault when the node gives no reply even after the server repeats the above for number of retrial times (n).
