Poly(ethynylene-phenylene-ethynylene-(polysiloxane)silylene) polymers are new. Poly(ethynylene-phenylene-ethynylene-(polysiloxane)silylene) polymers of formula (I) or (Ia) are new: R = halogen, 1-20C alkyl, 3-20C cycloalkyl, 1-20C alkoxy, 6-20C aryl, 6-20C aryloxy, 2-20C alkenyl, 3-20C cycloalkenyl, 2-20C alkynyl, NH2, 2-20C mono- or disubstituted amino or silanyl comprising 1-10 Si atoms, all optionally substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, NH2, mono- or disubstituted amino or silanyl; n = 0-4; q = 1-40; R' = a group of formula (i): p = 1-40; R1, R2 = H, halogen, 1-20C alkyl, 3-20C cycloalkyl, 1-20C alkoxy, 6-20C aryl, 6-20C aryloxy, 2-20C alkenyl, 3-20C cycloalkenyl or 2-20C alkynyl, all optionally substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, NH2, mono- or disubstituted amino or silanyl; Y = H, halogen or a group derived from a chain-limiting agent. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a process for producing the polymers; (2) hardened products produced by heat treating the polymers at 50-700 deg C; (3) matrices for composites comprising the polymers. |
