PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an irregularity in image, which is caused by a variation in gap between en electrode and an image carrier due to a leak of toner from an end. SOLUTION: An image forming device 1 forms an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier 2 by a writing means 3 and develops the electrostatic latent image by a developing means 4, thereby forming an image. The image forming device 1 is provided with an electrification writing means 3 having a plurality of writing electrodes 3a which are arranged in contact with or close to the image carrier 2 along the axial direction of the image carrier 2. The image forming device 1 also has a discharging means 9 that discharges residual toner on the image carrier 2. At least an image carrier discharge width L9 of the discharging means 9 is made greater than an image carrier contact width L3 of the electrification writing means 3. In addition, the image carrier discharge width of the discharging means is made greater than a toner regulating means of the developing means. That prevents the potential of toner remaining on the image carrier 2 after transfer from varying in the direction of the width of the image carrier 2, with the result that the toner un-uniformly sticks to a contact between the electrification writing means 3 and the image carrier 2 and hinders the formation of a latent image. |
