PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a luminance characteristic by suppressing degradation of light emission luminance of a phosphor layer having a metal back in an FED. SOLUTION: In this phosphor layer having the metal back, adhesion of a metal back film to the phosphor layer is 30% or more in contact area ratio between both layers. Thickness of the metal back film is 5 to 100 nm and light transmittance is 10% or lower, thereby providing high luminance display with a high reflecting property. Such phosphor layer having the metal back can be formed by transferring a metal film using a transfer film on the phosphor layer formed on the inner surface of a translucent substrate.
