PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate fabrication of such a semiconductor laser element as read error caused by a returning light can be reduced in an optical pickup device employing a three beam method. SOLUTION: Fabrication process of a semiconductor laser element is simplified by forming a structure for preventing intrusion of a returning light into an active layer using a substrate for growing semiconductor having a laser light absorbing power.
