<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell traffic monitor that copes with any setting form of cells independently of the setting form specified by traffic by means of a small-scale hardware amount. SOLUTION: The cell traffic monitor measures the elapsed time from the arrival of a preceding cell until the arrival of a cell this time, sequentially stores the measured value to a queue, reads the measured value after a lapse of a time equivalent to the measured value stored at the head of the queue, sums the measured values in the queue, counts number of the stored values in the queue, and discriminates cells to be discarded when the cells with number of a (maximum number n-1) arrives before the sum of the measured values reaches a maximum time T in the case that the traffic is e.g. specified such that transfer of n-sets of cells at maximum is permitted within the maximum time T.</p> |
