PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage controlled oscillator that can prevent the characteristic from being deteriorated and to provide a communication equipment employing the voltage controlled oscillator. SOLUTION: The voltage controlled oscillator 10 selects either of two different frequencies, is in operation under the selected frequency and provided with a resonance circuit 11, an oscillation circuit 2 and a buffer circuit 3. The resonance circuit 11 is provided with a varactor diode VD11, a diode D11 acting like a switching element, a strip line resonator L11, and inductor L12, a resistor R 11, coupling capacitors C11, C12, and a DC blocking capacitor C13. Then a tap CT1 (placed at a position except ends) of the strip line resonator L11 is connected to ground via the diode D11 and the DC-cut capacitor C13. Furthermore, the diode D11 is connected to a control terminal 13 via the resistor R11.
