406,157. Knitting. TEXTILE MACHINE WORKS, Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. May 6, 1933, No. 13255. Convention date, May 7, 1932. [Class 74 (ii).] A method of making a run-proof fabric on a straight knitting- machine with shiftable transfer points consists in spreading, portions of loops belonging to selected needles over other needles bv means of the transfer points. The operation may be performed on a sufficient number of needles to give a uniform effect as shown in Fig. 8 or on a smaller number to give a striped or zig-zag effect. The transfer points may be shifted by known mechanism. After the loops are engaged by the transfer points, the needles and points rise together to prevent the spread loops from leaving their own needles. The spread loops are given a twist as the needles descend below the knocking- over bits. |
