PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a heat generation area with simple structure and to realize miniaturization and the reduction of cost. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with a cylindrical fixing roller 41 to be heated, a coil supporting body 42b arranged along the inside of the roller 41, a heating coil 43 wound round the periphery of the body 42b and formed to heat the roller 41 by inducing an induction current in the roller 41 and a pressure roller forming a nip part with the roller 41, and fixes a toner image formed on transfer material by holding and carrying the transfer material in the nip part between the roller 41 and the pressure roller by imparting heat energy to the toner image. The coil 43 is wound round the body 42b so as to be long in the longitudinal direction of the body 42b, and wound round in the longitudinal direction of the body 42b and a direction crossing with the longitudinal direction of the body 42b. The coil 43 is set so that its winding density in the direction crossing with the longitudinal direction of the body 42b may be higher than that in the longitudinal direction of the body 42b.
