PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leaser light irradiating device which enables the efficient utilization of a laser beam by preventing the light quantity loss in a diffraction type light valve. SOLUTION: The laser light irradiating device has a laser light source 2 which emits the laser beam of the linearly polarized light having the directions of their electric spectra facing a direction perpendicular to the lining-up direction of many light emission points 21 lined up in one direction form these light emission points 21, the diffraction type light valve 6 which has the constitution lined up with many reflector plates 61 in one direction and modulates the laser beam cast thereto, an illumination optical system 3 which illuminates the top of the diffraction type light valve 6 with the laser beams emitted from the laser light source 2, an imagery optical system 7 which images the laser beam modulated in the diffraction type light valve 6 onto a medium 1 to be irradiated and a phase difference plate 4 which is arranged between the illumination optical system 3 and the diffraction type light valve 6 and rotates, 90 deg., the polarization direction of the laser beam emitted from the laser light source 2.
