PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for providing information and its system capable of supplying contents depending on barcode data inputted via a computer network and supplying contents desired by a user quickly, and adapable to the various contents with versatility. SOLUTION: The user 1 uses a scanner 3 to read a barcode 4 attached to a commodity 5. The read barcode data are delivered to the Internet 11 through a portable terminal 2, a base station 8 and an ISP 10. The barcode data sent to a data conversion server 12 via the Internet 11 is converted into a predetermined URL according to a data conversion table. The ISP 10 or an ASP 13 is connected by the URL, and the contents are supplied by a contents site or the like.
