PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording device which reduces the load of processing by omitting the unnecessary detection of electronic watermark information. SOLUTION: According to the kinds of external input interface means, it is determined whether or not electronic watermark information is detected in data inputted through the respective external input interface means. Data inputted through an external input interface means for which it is decided that the electronic watermark information is not detected are recorded without performing any watermark information detection.
