PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable audio equipment by which a user can listen to surrounding sound clearly by an easy operation without taking a wearable audio output device such as a headphone, an earphone or the like. SOLUTION: The portable audio output equipment is used to listen to reproduced sound by using the wearable audio output device such as the headphone, the earphone or the like. The equipment is provided with a means for, when a prescribed command is input in a state that a microphone for picking up the surrounding sound is on and the reproduced sound is output to the output device, stopping the output of the reproduced sound to the output device, and driving the microphone to output the surrounding sound picked up by the microphone to the output device.
