PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor having a higher propulsive force than that of the prior art. SOLUTION: A plurality of frame coils 7a, 7b are provided at the internal side of a cylindrical external yoke 5 in the fixing side. An internal yoke 9 including a plurality of teeth 9a, 9b, in which a magnetic communicating portion B is formed at least at one end thereof through the frame coils 7a, 7b, is provided. The magnets 11a to 11d are provided respectively to both surfaces of the teeth 9a, 9b, in the manner that the opposing surfaces to the frame coils 7a, 7b have the single pole which is different from the polarity of the adjacent teeth 9a, 9b. Consequently, the magnetic flux radiated from the particular magnets among the magnets 11a to 11d flows into the adjacent teeth via the external yoke 6 and returns through the magnetic communicating portion B. Accordingly, a movable side consisting of the magnet and internal yoke moves in the longitudinal direction of the teeth 9a, 9b by impressing a current to the frame coils 7a, 7b.
