The side of the automobile bodywork comprises an opening delimited by the roof arch (10) which is formed by a monobloc part comprising an aluminum section (11). The section is arched and comprises a hollow central part with a closed section comprising two opposite walls (12a) and edged by two support rebates (13,14) for adjacent components of the bodywork. One of the central part walls comprises a positioning slot (15) for the central upright. The walls also have at their front end a positioning slot (16,17) for bodywork adjacent components.
