PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve separation capability for steam and boiler water in a steam boiler, and secure an enough circulation amount in the boiler where boiling of the boiler water is reduced. SOLUTION: A steam boiler is adapted such that it includes a steam generator 6 for boiling boiler water by heating the same to produce steam, a communication tube 3 for taking out the steam together with the boiled boiler water from the steam generator; a steam separator 7 connected with the communication tube 3 for separating steam and the boiler water from the steam involving the water; and a steam separator water circulation pipe 4 connected with a lower portion of the steam separator for returning the boiler water separated in the steam separator to the steam generator 6. In the steam boiler, transverse tubing 11 is provided on the communication tube 3 for flowing a steam stream transversely, and a communication tube water returning pipe 5 is connected to a bottom of transverse tubing portion for returning the boiler water in the communication tube to the steam generator 6.
