PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volute pump capable of securely separating gas from water without reducing suction efficiency by simple machining. SOLUTION: In the volute pump constituted such that a rotatable pump shaft 5 and an impeller 4 capable of interlocking with the pump shaft 5 are provided in a casing 1B provided with a suction port 3 and a discharge port 11 to feed water by a centrifugal force from the suction port 3 to the discharge port 11 by rotating the impeller 4 due to the rotation of the pump shaft 5, an air separation passage 7 opened at a central position of a cross section of a water stream introduced into the suction port 3 is provided in the impeller 4 to separate air mixed in the water introduced into the suction port 3 by communicating the air separation passage 7 with a vacuum pump.
