PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image communication equipment, a communication system, a transmission image processing method and a storage medium that enable a user to view an optimum image even when electronic image data converted from a read image are transmitted as an attached file to electronic mail and the user views the image displayed on a display device of a computer or the like or the user views the image printed on paper in the case of faxing the data. SOLUTION: A CPU 241 of a hand scanner 102 attachable to/detachable from facsimile equipment 101 outputs received RGB image data to a gamma conversion section A249 in the case of color facsimile communication, the gamma conversion section S249 applies gamma conversion processing to the received RGB image data by a gamma parameter for color facsimile equipment as its control or outputs the received RGB image data to a gamma conversion section B251 in the case of transmission of the color image attached to electronic mail, and the gamma conversion section B251 applies gamma conversion processing to the RGB image data by using a gamma parameter for a PC display.
