PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a smooth ordinary work even when return operation to an ordinary mode is left as it is after execution of a regulation mode, in a continuously variable transmission control device having an ordinary mode and a regulation mode. SOLUTION: A control device 44 controls movement of a moving division pulley 27b of a belt type continuously variable transmission mechanism 25 based on drive of an electric motor 36. The control device 44 has an ordinary mode where movement of a moving division pulley 27b is controlled according to a given detecting signal and a regulation mode where movement of the moving division pulley 27b is controlled according to a given manual operation signal. When the modes are switched according to operation of a mode change- over switch 50, during starting, the ordinary mode is executed despite of the operation state of the mode change-over switch 50 and thereafter when the mode change-over switch 50 is changed-over, switching of the mode is effected.
