PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool a cylinder heat sufficiently after a warm-up operation while promoting the warm-up operation sufficiently. SOLUTION: For a cold start-up, cooling water supply to a block-side passage 610 is cut off and a flow rate supplied to a head-side passage 620 is set to a flow rate below a maximum flow rate, and if the temperature of a cylinder block 110 is lower than a given temperature after a warm-up operation, cooling water is supplied to the head-side passage 620 while cooling water supply to the block-side passage 610 is cut off. During the warm-up operation, a cylinder head 120 can be protected against seizure to promote the warm-up operation, and after the warm-up operation, a reduction in engine oil temperature can be prevented to reduce frictional resistance, while a cooling water quantity necessary to cool the cylinder head 120 is ensured.
