PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an electrostatically actuated ink jet head where the number of connecting wires to a head driver can be reduced and also the application of drive voltage between counter electrodes can be controlled precisely. SOLUTION: Individual electrodes 10 are made at the electrode glass board 4 of an ink jet head 1, and also a matrix circuit part 14 where switching elements for controlling the application of drive voltage to the individual electrodes 10 are connected in matrix is made. Since only the line and row selecting lines of this matrix circuit 14 have to be connected to the side of a head driver, the number of wires drawn out to head driver side can be reduced sharply compared with the number of pieces of the individual electrodes 10. Moreover, since the switching element is constituted of a bidirectional analog switch consisting of a transmission gate capable of low impedance drive, it can perform the application control (charge and discharge control between counter electrodes) of drive voltage to individual electrodes with accuracy.
