PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely and easily prevent contents data from illegally being used and to perform charging processing by equipment of a user side of the contents data according to the intention of a provider side of the contents data. SOLUTION: The header part HD of the contents data provided in file format is provided with a duplication inhibition period specification area NC, an end date area ED2 for the application period of a duplication limit type A, and a final duplication limit type area ET. To the duplication inhibition period specification area NC, the start date and end date of the duplication inhibition period are inputted (set) and to the end date area ED2 for the application period of the duplication limit type A, the end date of the period wherein duplication is limited by the duplication limit type A is inputted. To the final duplication limit type area ET, data indicating a final duplication limit type indicating duplication limitation which is imposed in neither the duplication inhibition period nor the application period of the duplication limit type A are inputted. Those are used to limit the duplication (recording) of the contents data by a recorder.
