PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can realize stabilization of glossiness, hot offset, prevention of jam, and prevent lowering of copy speed, the rupture of a fixation belt after a heating roll reaches a prescribed temperature, and a temperature overrun when rotation suspension occurs. SOLUTION: The fixing device 1 is provided with a heat radiating means 7 consisting of a metal member having radiation fins to increase heat radiation according to the temperature rise of a fixation belt 2 on the nip upstream of a fixing roller 4 and the pressure roller 5 on the surface of the fixing roller 4. A detection/control means controls a heating member 3 so as to hold the temperature of a thermistor 8 at 140 to 150 deg.C. A pressing means 13 controls the contact area of the heat radiating member 7 for the fixing roller 4 so as to hold the temperature of a thermistor 12 at 125 to 130 deg.C.
