PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform excellent transfer, to prevent image deterioration and to improve the separability of a body to be transferred under any environment. SOLUTION: This image forming device is equipped with a photoreceptor 1 on which a toner image is formed, the body to be transferred which moves while abutting on the photoreceptor 1 through specified nip width and to which the toner image formed on the photoreceptor 1 is transferred, a transfer bias applying means 8 applying specified transfer bias to the body to be transferred, and a potential gradient forming means 4 making the transfer bias have potential gradient on the body to be transferred so that toner image transfer amount from the photoreceptor 1 to the body to be transferred may be increased in an area up to a point to start the contact of the photoreceptor 1 with the body to be transferred on a more upstream side than a transfer area with respect to the photoreceptor 1. The means 4 electrically floats.
