PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problems of a prior art such that manual changeover is required and it is troublesome when setting the ON/OFF of key monitoring sound in conventional portable communication equipment and the generated key monitoring sound bothers people around in an operation for which keys are frequently operated such as the time of preparing mail. SOLUTION: In this portable communication device, by automatically turning OFF the key monitoring sound when preparing the mail, the key monitoring sound frequently generated when preparing the mail does not bother the people around. Or, the level or sound pressure of surrounding noise fetched by a microphone is compared with a preset threshold, the key monitoring sound is turned ON in the case that the surroundings are noisy, the key monitoring sound is turned OFF in the case that the surroundings are quiet and thus, the people around is prevented from being bothered. Also, since the ON/OFF of the key monitoring sound is automatically switched, the troublesomeness of the manual changeover is dissolved as well. |
