PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user accurately recognize which one of the various functions of a portable terminal is activated without visual information. SOLUTION: In the ROM 3 and RAM 4 of this portable terminal 1, voice data corresponding to the optional functions and events (an alarm function, voice call termination, mail termination, the arrival of the scheduled time in a schedule function, etc.), of the portable terminal 1 are set. With the activation of the optional function or event as a trigger, the corresponding voice data are read from the ROM 3 or the RAM 4, outputted as voice through a sound source 5, an amplification part 6 and a speaker 7, etc., and thus reported to the user.
