The invention relates to a method for exchanging field unit data, according to which several computing units (R1, R2, R3, R4) connected to the Internet WWW form a user group. Each user in this group releases specific files on his or her computing unit e.g. (R1, R2, R3 or R4) for access by other users. One of the computing units, e.g. (R1) can be temporarily selected as a client, the remaining computing units, e.g. (R2, R3, R4) as a server. The client (R1) transmits a search request to a relay server (RS1, RS2, RS3) that is connected to the Internet WWW and said relay server forwards the search request to the server (R2, R3, R4). The servers (R2, R3, R4) compare the released files with the search request and if they match, the corresponding matched data is signalled to one of the relay servers (RS1, RS2, RS3). The latter compiles a list of all matched data and transmits said list to the client (R1). Said method places at the users' disposal at any one time the most current information of the other users. |
