The intake for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine has a duct (10) opening into the engine inlet port. The duct has a rotary obturator (11) with a diameter twice that of the duct, and an opening. The obturator is mounted so that its rotation allows at least part of the duct to be unblocked. The opening can be part-circular in shape.
