PURPOSE: To provide a distortion correction circuit for correcting vertically asymmetrical distortion while reducing the circuit scale, and a display device. CONSTITUTION: This distortion correcting circuit is provided with a comparator circuit 10 for inputting a vertical sawtooth Vsaw, and for comparing the vertical sawtooth voltage with a reference voltage Vref set at the vertical sawtoth voltage corresponding to the center of a screen in a vertical sweep direction; a multiplying circuit 11 for generating the parabola wave of the difference of the vertical sawtooth voltage and the reference voltage; a gain variable amplifier circuit 12 for adjusting the output amplitude of the multiplying circuit; and a selecting circuit 13 for selecting a first gain as the gain of the amplifier circuit 12 when the vertical sawtooth voltage is lower than the reference voltage based on the compared result of the comparator circuit, and for selecting a second gain as the gain of the amplifier circuit 12 when the vertical sawtooth voltage is not lower than the reference voltage. In this case, a distortion correction signal is outputted from the output of the amplifier circuit.
