<p>A manually operable afterloader (10) is provided for use during radiation therapy treatment of a patient. The afterloader (10) includes at least one source wire drum (24), for the receipt of a non-radioactive portion of a source wire (130), and a shield capsule (14) having a passageway (160a, 160b, 160c) therethrough for receipt of a radioactive portion of a source wire. A cranking mechanism (22) is provided to rotate the source wire drum (24) and drive the radioactive source wire out of the shield capsule (14).</p> |
