PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to cook under the optimal condition by controlling the volume of a cavity according to the kind, volume, and size of a food and reduce the power consumption. CONSTITUTION: In a microwave oven comprising a cavity casing(25) forming a cavity receiving food and an outer casing(10) enclosing the cavity casing and forming the exterior, the cavity casing includes a fixed casing part(26) and a movable casing part(50) forming a cavity(15) with the fixed casing part and varying the volume of the cavity by being expandably connected to the fixed casing part. A part of the movable casing part is received by the fixed casing part and slides back and forth. A heat-resistant gasket(54) maintaining the airtightness of the cavity is installed at the connection part between the fixed casing part and the movable casing part.
