PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling wear of refractories of cover for main iron trough is provided to prevent wear of refractories by locally installing water cooling type cooling pipes between refractories of the cover for main iron trough so that temperature of the refractories is uniformly cooled. CONSTITUTION: In a refractory wear control apparatus for preventing wear of refractories inside cover for main iron trough(3) positioned in the upper part of the main iron trough, the apparatus for controlling wear of the refractories(8) of the cover for main iron trough is characterized in that the cover for main iron trough is divided into front end part, middle part and rear end part in a length direction of the cover, and a water cooling type cooling system is installed inside left surface(5), right surface(7) and upper surface(6) of the respective divided parts, wherein the water cooling type cooling system comprises pipe parts for transferring cooling water for cooling refractories, flow meters(22,25,28) for detecting flow rate of the cooling water transferred, flow rate control parts(31,34,37) for enabling flow rate of cooling water to be controlled, temperature detecting parts(56,59,62) for sensing temperature of the refractories of the cover for the main iron trough, and a control part(66) for controlling the above respective composing members.
